Christmas Bacchanalia

Christmas Eve was spent at the Grandparent's house. She got to show off her Christmas dress courtesy of her Nana Gail.

This morning's Christmas was an extreme success. The big winner was the baby doll with stroller.

Budding Artist

Miss D's single favorite activity of the moment is coloring with her markers. She'll pull out her pad (she found where we hide it), pull her markers out of the drawer (she found where we hide them), and crawl up next to the table and go to it. And she'll do it at all times of the day, from first thing in the morning to right before she's ready for bed. And not only does she like to scribble on the pad, but she likes to color her hands, arms, and face. Thankfully they're washable.

Thanksgiving Megapost: Part 1

SugarBear kicked off a full week of hanging out with the Grandparents and her Uncle and Aunt with a trip to the zoo. It was a nice cool day and the crowd was pretty thin so we got great looks at all the animals. D had plenty of room to just run around and get some of her crazy out.

D with her Grandparents. She liked climbing all over these tiger statues at the zoo entry.

A new addition to the zoo was a giraffe feeding station. Little D got her hand licked by one very hungry giraffe.

Lions!

Birds!

Looking at monkeys! The howler monkeys were crazy and kinda freaked D out a little.

Halloween '09

Halloween! This year our little D went as a blue fairy. We had a cookout at her cousin's house, then a party with all of her friends, and finally some trick-or-treating at the end of the day.

Checking out the scarecrow. She kept running back to this thing over and over and over.

Party time!

This hat does not match this outfit... but I have to have it!

She wouldn't wear her fairy shoes with her costume, but she did eventually wear them.

Not too sure about that pumpkin.

NC State Fair 2009

Here we are, bundled up and ready for a cold morning at the fair. This is D's second year at the fair. Only this year its a lot lot lot colder. We left around noon and it only got up to 47, with a steady (and very chilly) breeze.

So much to look at!

You might think I've got her all wrapped up, but what I'm really doing is keeping my hands warm.

Those cheeks look chilly.

Lets go get an elephant ear.

D-rock's first elephant ear.

Yum. That's good eatin'!

SugarBear and her momma sharing some fried dough.

Now let's go see some farm animals.

D pointing at some piglets.

Here we are trying to work off some of that dough from earlier. Or maybe we're our way to get a bag of honey cotton candy.

Near the end of the day we went over to the petting zoo. Don't worry, we didn't let her pet anything.

I mean, look at this evil goat! Would you pet this?!

Our food total consisted of a bag of mini-donuts, an elephant ear, maple cotton candy, honey cotton candy, italian sausage dog (w/ peppers), grilled corn, and apple dumpling. D ate some of everything and liked it all with the exception of the cotton candy.

Miss D was wide open last night. She was in as good a mood as we could remember. Laughing, running around, acting insane. It was fun stuff. I don't know if this video does her justice, but it comes close.

One thing she was really doing a lot of was climbing up on the ottoman and sliding off. Kimbo gives her a hand in the video but every other time she wanted to do it herself. She's got some daredevil in her.

Yummy!

Our baby girl likes to eat. This past week we discovered that she digs corn on the cob. And she likes taking bites out of her Dad's apple.

More Laundrey Basket Fun

What a long month. Fortunately we have our little D Monster around to add rays of sunshine when things get to be too much.

Back to the Beach

A few weekends ago we went back to Carolina Beach. Much fun and sun was had.

D getting her hands on some fresh Britts Donuts.

Ready to do some digging.

Chair surfing!

Everybody likes a good sand hole.

D, you left a couple books on the shelf back there.

What the.....

Last Tuesday we came home to a surprise with someone having tried to kick in our front and kitchen doors. The deadbolt held, so we didn't lose anything. By the end of Thursday we had a new kitchen door put in and the front door repaired. It made for a crazy week, though.

D? She didn't care. She was still enjoying her memories of the beach from the previous weekend.

Buttons and Dancing

Two videos that pretty well capture a typical weekday night. Detail oriented viewers will notice how one of us distracts Miss D while the other frantically cleans up the mess that was just left behind.

Afternoon in North Durham

Sunday afternoon was spent with the grandparents in North Durham. D spent her time chasing Bear and splashing in the water fountain. We spent our time chasing D.

"Dog!" "No, Bear." "Dog!"
