Final Beach Days

We're back from the beach! It'll probably go down as one of the greatest weeks ever. Every day was better than the last and it's a shame it had to end. Delany would find something new to do everyday, from playing at the shore edge to digging a big hole and dubbing it a "pool".

There was a local donut shop around the corner. We got SugarBear a special pink iced one with sprinkles. She kinda liked it.

It's cold!

Where are my legs?!?

One of our big activities for a couple of days was decorating our sand walls with seashells. D was always very specific about where a certain shell was supposed to go.

Playing in the sand under the umbrellas.

Oh! It's still cold!!

Doing a little bit of post-beach Lego playing. She's desperately trying to hold onto Sue in her right arm while building her Lego car with her left.

D-rock is getting sleepy.

Bring that camera back here!

Beach Week: Playgrounds, Popsicles and Pinwheels

So far, beach week has been more fun than we even expected! We've spent the mornings at the beach and then in the afternoon we find other things to do after Delany's nap.

The playground was hot, but a lot of fun.

SugarBear loves a rock wall.

She's got to work on her form, but she's getting the hang of it. I was only there to spot her, she really did the work of climbing the wall herself.

The outside of this looks like a fish, while the inside fish 'skeleton' can be climbed up.

There's a local popsicle store in Topsail: LunaPops. We went there yesterday and again today. So far we're tried Cherry, Coconut-Ginger-Sesame, Blackberry Yogurt, Cookies and Creme, Maple Brown Sugar, Cantaloupe, Pistachio, and Blueberry-Pomegranate.

Some toys never get old.

Tonight after dinner we went back to the beach for an evening stroll.

Delany's finally gotten used to playing at the water's edge. The waves were crashing pretty good tonight and she still wasn't freaked out.

A Week at the Beach

We're currently in the middle of our week long vacation at Surf City. Delany is having a blast! From the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to bed she berates us with cries of "outside" and "beach". We're been more than happy to oblige her requests.

The beach here is great. It has a large level area that leaves lots of tidal pools for us to play in.

There was a frog on our porch one night and the next day we found it stashed away in our beach bag. D-Rock was a big fan.

Yeah, that's right. Pajama pants with a t-shirt sitting on a fish float with my sunglasses on.

Pool Time in SC

Delany got to spend the weekend with her South Carolina grandparents. Saturday afternoon they broke out the kiddy pool for her and her cousin. It was a little chilly but a lot of fun.

Cold!

Duke Gardens Rock Show

SugarBear's getting ready for her first rock show. Camera Obscura at Duke Gardens. She went to see The Rosebuds last year, but she was a lot smaller then.
Trying on some kid-sized, rock-show approved headphones, in case its too loud.
Taking a break from dancing and hopping around to eat a potato chip. Its a lot of work to rock this hard.

Chilling with Uncle Jared.
