Zoo Day

Another Spring Day, another trip to the North Carolina Zoo. The zoo is always a crazy mix of tantrums and joy. Fortunately, we only take pictures of the joy.

We finally wised up and packed a picnic lunch. Jimmy Johns is a lot better than overpriced pizza.

Check out that grizzly bear sleeping in the water in the background.

Our baby boy, all grins.

There's a lot of walking at the zoo. Or in the kids case, a lot of strollering.

It must be so great to be so happy all the time.

SugarBear doing what she does best: Play hard.

Showing off her new blue tongue.

Continuing the theme of playing with large insects. At least this one isn't hugging back.

Watching the sea lions go around and around never gets old.

We should really time how long it takes her to fall asleep once we get her in the car. I'm pretty sure it was under 5 minutes.

Merrit was glad to finally make it back to the car too. Poor guy was trying to fall asleep all day.

Happy Birthday SugarBear

We've been talking about it. We've been practicing holding up 3 fingers. We've asked her what she wanted for her birthday. And now, the big day has finally come and gone. Hard to believe that its been 3 years already. It seems like so much longer, but at the same time it seems like just yesterday we were getting her dressed to come home from the hospital. The past few days have been a whirlwind of cupcakes, dance parties, Easter egg hunts, and picnics in her new clubhouse.

We kicked things off with a Wiggles themed dance party at D-Rocks daycare.

Of course, there were cupcakes.

Someone finally has a clubhouse they can call their own. It even has a working doorbell.

Here we are pretending to eat with Mom.

And now pretending to eat with Dad. Note that no one is too big to fit in the clubhouse. Its not exactly comfortable, but everyone can fit.

Then on Saturday was the final birthday party with friends and family.

All the ladies hanging out on the swing.

It would have been nice if D would have smiled here, but she's still recovering from a roomful of peoople singing at her while a candle burned in front of her face.

Yes there is room for two on this chair.

More cupcakes.

At one point the kids crowded in so tight that Kimbo had to tell them to back out, for fear of being crushed.

Merrit chilling with the Granddads.

Thats not really a grin. Its a pre-fuss.
